#ScribesAndMakers Sep. 6: Have you ever listened to an audiobook where the reader had a good voice, but not the 'right' voice?

I've only had the misfortune of hearing two audiobooks, both being listened to by others: *Eragon* and *Jurassic Park*. The problems with the former were mostly to do with the story, but I will say the actor was enthusiastic, even if he didn't do women well. I felt like he was enjoying himself. The latter... I don't think anyone could have saved it from making "said" lose all meaning within 3 pages, even as much as he tried to minimize it. The book had great ideas, but zero variety there. That guy was a little dry, but very easy to parse. Both of them did different kinds of a good job with what they had to work with.

I can really only hope when I do mine, people enjoy it. The last thing I'd want is for anyone to think my performance ruined my own book for them.
