Current situation according to my knowledge (correction welcome as I'm not infallible) and experience as of today:
German citizens living abroad: Voting rights stifled by snail mail shenanigans. Furthermore, suffrage gets automatically cancelled if you stay out for more than 25 years unless you apply for an exception that has to be reasoned well, because being a citizen is not enough somehow 🤷🏻♂️
Meanwhile, Germany allows foreigners to donate oodles to political parties.
