I have had a health issue for the last 6 months. I've had 4 blood tests, two scans, 4 specialist consultations, a biopsy, and will have surgery in 2 weeks. And so far it's cost me about $12, everything happened with amazing swiftness and efficiency, and I was treated with respect and excellent care at every step.
Almost all of this was paid for by our taxes; it's why I've been HAPPY to pay taxes for 50+ years - as Oliver Wendell Holmes said, taxes are the price of civilization.
