Every Christian man should be ready, willing, and able to defend the lives of his family and fellow believers. This isn't negotiable; if you prefer to say "the blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church" and reject your duty to defend other Christians, then you are saying that you celebrate the deaths of these children as a *good* thing. This amounts to hatred of your brothers in Christ, that you would rather see them murdered in cold blood than take up arms to defend them.
