So I call this business model a **Stakeholder Equity Corporation** (SECs), and I'm trying to solve seven problems:
1. *Disconnection between ownership and contribution* - traditional stock markets reward shareholders who may have no connection to a company's operations or success, whereas SECs require stakeholders to be shareholders, ensuring those who create value share in the rewards
2. *Income inequality and wealth concentration* - wealth generated by corporations is concentrated among investors whereas stakeholder ownership distributes wealth more equitably to workers, suppliers, and customers
3. *Short-termism in corporate governance* - traditional markets incentivize short-term profits at the expense of long-term growth, whereas SECs prioritizes long-term goals and sustainability
4. *Lack of corporate accountability* - companies focused on maximizing shareholder value often neglect social and environmental responsibilities whereas SECs, by involving stakeholders in governance, ensure to the people and communities they impact
5. *Liquidity challenges in stakeholder ownership models* - cooperatives often struggle to provide liquidity, making it difficult for participants to realize value or adapt to changing needs, whereas an SEC's leasing system allows stakeholders to generate liquidity while maintaining the "one share, one owner" principle
6. *Weak relationships between companies and stakeholders* - workers, customers, and suppliers often feel undervalued or disconnected from the companies they support, leading to turnover, disengagement, and weak loyalty, whereas by making stakeholders member-owners, SECs strengthens ties between companies and the people who sustain them -- fostering mutual success
7. *Barriers to sustainable and inclusive growth* - traditional market systems often fail to incentivize inclusive growth or long-term societal benefits, whereas an SEC's structure inherently promotes fairness, inclusivity, and sustainability
For such entities to exist, you would need a specialized stock market -- it cannot exist on conventional exchanges like the NASDAQ or NYSE.
