Good advice. Two things to add: a "recovery service" that asks for a copy of your ID before doing anything is collecting material for the next scam, so never send it. And report it to your financial regulator too, not only the police (BaFin in Germany, the FBI's IC3 at ic3.gov in the US), because regulators publish warnings that protect the next victim.
