Because there’s another book: “The Reverse Centaur’s Guide to Life After AI” by Cory Doctorow ( ) , published on June 23, 2026. Almost three months earlier.

Doctorow explores a fundamental question: Who is actually in control? Are machines tools that serve human beings, or are we becoming human appendages to technical systems that dictate our pace, actions, and decisions?

His metaphor is the reverse centaur: Instead of a human becoming more capable with the help of a machine, the human becomes the machine’s subordinate.

And then, less than three months later, along comes another book with a strikingly similar title, built around the same metaphor, promising to teach us how to think for ourselves again.

Coincidence? Possibly. Suspicious? Certainly worth a closer look.

It gets even more interesting when you look at the author. (2/4)
