Because fascists worship power above all else, and what is more powerful than a person trained for and inured to killing?

They only focus on the killing part too. Forgive me for defending an evil institution, but in the Army we were also beat over the head with a lot of good, prosocial things- taking care of each others, fairness and impartiality to all people, mentoring and growing your subordinates so they can grow into their potential, yadda yadda.

It was so much more than killing, even though it was all aimed at making us capable of functioning while doing terrible things, it was still GOOD training that should be widespread.

And the fascists HATE those parts.
