If you don't already own a #fountainpen, and you want to try one, you should pick up a Platinum Preppy, and give it a try. They seem to be selling for about $7 USD, now.
I own expensive fountain pens. I have also used a Platinum Preppy as my primary pen for a period of about 5 years straight, despite that. They are that good.
I never hesitate to recommend one as an introduction to what fountain pens can do for you, especially converted to eyedropper fill.
