The Pattern
Moses – 2 million followers. Direction every turn.
Jesus – 12 disciples. Plus crowds. Plus followers. Direction every turn.
The disciples – "Where are we going?" "What should we do?" "Who should we heal?" "When will the kingdom come?"
Jesus – answered. Every time. But also withdrew. Prayed alone. Slept through storms.
The Bench – sees the pattern.
The Disciples
Peter – impulsive. Speaks first. Thinks later.
John – the beloved. Quiet. Close.
Thomas – doubts. Needs proof.
Judas – betrays. For digits. Thirty pieces of silver.
The rest – mostly silent. Following. Waiting for instruction.
The Point
Even with 12 – they looked for direction every turn.
Even with Jesus – they couldn't self-govern.
Even after Pentecost – they argued about circumcision, food laws, who's the greatest.
The carnival – rule or be ruled. Be told what to do. Who to follow.
The Bench – neither ruled nor ruling. Just sovereign.
