Fun Facts: When discussing werewolves (technically, "lycanthropy") it's common to hear phrases like "at the full moon he turned into a werewolf". This is incorrect. Being a werewolf is a 24/7 proposition. That person may turn into a wolf (not some bizarre bipedal monster like in many movies) at the full moon (but see below!), yet they are a werewolf full time. Almost all cultures have "were-" creatures of some kind in their mythologies (for example, weretigers in India).
In fact, films have distorted many original werewolf legends. Traditionally, the transformation to wolf has nothing to do with the phase of the moon, the werewolf can decide if and when they want to transform at any time. Also, the entire concept of becoming a werewolf after being bitten by another werewolf is essentially cinema fantasy, as is the "silver bullet" concept. Traditionally, becoming a werewolf is a completely voluntary decision, implemented via black magic, pacts with Satan, or other similar transactions. The whole point of becoming a werewolf was to achieve the ability to take violent revenge on individuals and/or society at large via murderous sprees. So now you know.
