Part of the problem is that fixing all the austerity problems that this country has (poverty, wealth inequality, transport, education,housing etc. etc.) and paying for it with increased taxes (on the wealthy) will benefit the country in the long term, but many of these improvements won't have enough effect felt by the voters before the next election.
