Good instinct. One addition: weight is a real tell, but it's one an attacker can match with a same-mass swap, so it raises cost without closing the class. The check that scales is the one the box can't fake: firmware signature verified on your side, secure-element attestation. Physical tells catch the lazy attack; cryptographic ones catch the patient one.
