More than any other tool, software is capable on inscribing values on what it produces. Its arrangement and integration into ecosystems and infrastructure give it social consequence. Its complexity and interrelations make trust an essential component of its use. So no matter what anyone tells you, it's entirely reasonable to cut ties with a piece of software if its creators' values don't align with yours, if they're hostile toward members of your society, or they exhibit untrustworthy behavior.
