the whole "first film shot entirely in IMAX" thing is kind of a confluence of events.. it's hard to imagine anyone else with the fiscal runway and directorial draw that could get this amount of latitude from financiers, crew, and actors.
the cameras are extremely loud and the magazines can only hold about three minutes of film. the imax engineers even built special enclosures for the cameras on this project because of how distractingly loud the actors found them.
