The nice thing about having the date in the URL (in my opinion) is being able:
1) To identify quickly when it written. Not all pages/posts show the date on the page.
2) Having pages like /2026/ and /2026/01/ that automatically filter your post list to a specific timeframe. (This is how WordPress does it, for example)
