Wildfire started by humans approaches Reno, Nevada, forcing thousands of evacuations
The Hawk Fire quickly grew to 20 square miles (53 sq. km.) as it spread across the Peavine Peak area of the Humboldt–Toiyabe National Forest, where rugged foothills are ringed by homes and businesses. The blaze burned homes in northwest Reno and forced 90,000 people to evacuate.
