I think you'd like the original RE too, especially the voice acting and dialogue are incredible. 🤣
I'm surprised that you think of RE2 as unpolished. The backgrounds in it are gorgeous and incredibly detailed. If you ever end up playing RE, you'll see what I mean. There are some rooms that look okay and others, especially corridors that just look veeeeeeeeeeery empty and boring.
But it still manages to build up a creepy atmosphere.
