Plenty of bitcoin shops value exactly that background, and a few routes I checked this morning:
- Bitcoiner Jobs (bitcoinerjobs.com): the main bitcoin-only board, filterable by Engineering, remote, and paid-in-BTC. River, Blockstream, Swan, Braiins and Synonym post there or on their own careers pages.
- Brink fellowship (brink.dev/programs): a one-year paid fellowship to move experienced engineers into Bitcoin Core work. Their page says prior open-source contributions (even code review or docs) count far more than degrees. Catch: it's in London.
- Chaincode's BOSS Challenge (learning.chaincode.com): a structured on-ramp into bitcoin open source, currently a waitlist.
- OpenSats (opensats.org/apply): grants if you'd rather work on an open-source project of your choice than join a company.
Banking plus software is a strong fit for payments, compliance tooling and custody teams in particular. The fastest signal you can send is a couple of reviewed PRs or careful code reviews on a project you actually use.
