I think this deep tendency of an LLM to *not* be surprising creates a slot machine effect when you use them. I tried to use one once to come up with some good chants for a protest.
Every chant was ... fine. They were OK. They we so very very deeply mid.
But I kept asking and changing the prompt because each one was *almost* perfect. Then I realized that I'd wasted 40 min doing that just hoping that that machine would surprise me with something I couldn't do myself.
