We don't route anyone through questionable providers. The code that routes user request is public, everything is on Nostr. I'm just one of the reviewers of Routstr nodes, you can review them yourself. Users fetch these reviews from Nostr and only route through those nodes. :)
I don't see us as competitors. PPQ should be a Routstr node as well. I just created a dummy event to give you an idea, I'd be great if you create an event like this and sign it from your npub:

Routstr node runners in our web of trust are not malicious. I hope you don't burn bridges with the node runners, Matt. They're people in our web of trust who want to offer cheap and easy access to cypherpunks building on Nostr and Bitcoin.
I don't think its any different from someone donating to HRF or OpenSats. Here, they're simply giving discounts to builders on Nostr. Its a form of donation.
Lastly, Routstr nodes are high quality nodes, Venice is a reputable provider like PPQ. And Juraj is routing to them.
