I am staying away from the iPhone Duo for a few years - the defects reported in this new device are deal breakers for me.
A MacBook Pro is a good choice. I'm typing on one right now. My prior MacBook Air was tight on ports and I found some devices wouldn't work on the port expander I had.
Make sure you buy more RAM than you think you need - you will use it. I went up to 24G from 8G and it wasn't enough for the local AI models I want to run. The ones it runs are FAST though.
