I'll assume no one here lives under a rock, and thus you all already know that the only and oldest synagogue in Jackson, Mississippi was torched over the weekend, destroying their library and two Torahs.

Folks not in the Tribe might not appreciate what that means: every Torah is hand scribed on hide. Each takes a year to make and costs more than a car. Many have been used for hundreds of years. These are artifacts that are often both older than this country and still used on a weekly basis.
