The OP was a twitter post claiming he asked his mom what she thought the average down payment on a house was, and she supposedly said 8,000.
The average downpayment is only about 10%. It's not that paying more than that is bad, but it's not necessary.
Also, in what world is a 400 grand house a 'shitty house' unless you're somewhere REALLY expensive.
