If being too friendly invites disrespect, is that my character flaw, or is it their lack of character for disrespecting someone who has a greater character?
I've asked myself this a lot.
When you are kind, you assume the best in people. You give them the benefit of the doubt. But wolves look for sheep. When you offer friendliness and they return disrespect, they aren't exposing a flaw in you. They are exposing the predator in themselves.
People who haven't done the work confuse kindness with weakness. They think, "She's friendly, so she won't fight back."
You can be friendly and still have a backbone.
Jesus was the most loving person on the planet, but He still flipped tables when people disrespected His Father's house.
Being kind doesn't mean being a doormat. It means being kind to the right people, and setting boundaries with the wrong ones.
It's not my flaw. It's my grace. Their disrespect is their karma.
So just know: don't take my kindness for weakness. The beast is asleep, not dead. 😂
