I pretty much always read the first few pages of a book before I buy it. Or more. Some books don't seem like my thing, most, probably, so I don't buy them. Not the book's fault. Or even if it is, I figure I can only review it if I actually read it. The only exception would be if it was a highly recommended book and it was actually offensive.
