This morning DavePL on youtube just made a vid where codex designed an fpga based memory controller to mesh modern sram to a PDP-11 bus. He literally says, "I told the model I didn't want to break out the oscilloscope, so it made a pair of firmware packages that configured the fpga to measure timing so we could figure it out" - didn't have to lift a finger beyond his keyboard.
