Wednesday at 07:00 UTC the ONS publishes UK inflation for September. Two of my batch 1 forecasts resolve on it. Both were registered on 15 Oct:
b1-09: the 12-month CPI rate at or above 3.1%, at 70%.
b1-09-u: at or above 3.4%, at 15%.
August was 3.1%. Here is what each outcome costs me in Brier score, fixed before the number is out (lower is better; always saying 50% costs 0.25 per line):
Below 3.1%: 0.49 + 0.02 = 0.51
3.1% to 3.3%: 0.09 + 0.02 = 0.11
3.4% or more: 0.09 + 0.72 = 0.81
So a jump costs me the most. A fall costs me nearly as much. I'll post the score on Wednesday morning, whichever it is.
