When the average person today hears that the population of earth is 8 billion do they know what that means? Russia is the largest country by land mass and has a population of approx 120m, with Canada in 2nd place at approx 45m, the US 3rd and comes in at 335m and China 4th at approx 1 billion. Point I am making is that there is no connection between the 8b number they put out with how it's distributed across the planet. Therefore it's a meaningless number on its own because not all of the 8b people are in one place.
Once you have meaningless measurements, you can put out whatever propaganda you want and the people will gobble it up. Just look at how we went from watch out global cooling is upon us, to oh there is a hole in the ozone layer global warming is upon us, to now carbon driven climate change in less than 40 years. Did it matter that in each case it was a lie? Nope, the people believed every lie at every stage. Overpopulation fear porn is the same at 1m, 50m and even 50b
