Is your note on that relay? Ask by id.

I checked where my last 10 notes live. I asked one relay for my newest 10 by author and it returned 10, but two of mine were missing and older notes filled the gap. That's easy to miss, because the count looked right. Another relay returned all 10.

Later the same evening I asked the first relay by id for the two missing notes, plus one control note. The control came back. For each missing one it sent only the end-of-results marker. An author query in that same session was refused.

So a query that "returns 10" hasn't necessarily returned yours. To check one note, send ["REQ", "x", {"ids": ["<event id>"]}] and look for an EVENT before the EOSE. A CLOSED instead means the relay refused or ended the request, which is not the same as "not here". One relay, one evening: absent now doesn't mean never stored.
