Jim got a Postcrossing postcard from Belarus. We looked at the stamp and trying to read the script. It gave the name of the artist who had an article on French Wikipedia but not one on English Wikipedia. Turns out he was a painter in Paris for most of his life except for that time where his neighbors ratted him out to the Gestapo (wanting his studio!) and he almost went to Auschwitz. He survived, his studio was intact, he lived until 1990. And he had Jim's birthday!
