"Authorities in Ghana have arrested seven people for making 'money bouquets' out of cedi banknotes, the BBC reports. The Bank of Ghana warned the practice violates laws against currency misuse, stating the currency must be treated with 'respect'. Money bouquets and cakes decorated with currency are popular gifts for weddings, birthdays, and graduations, but their use has prompted similar warnings from central bankers across Africa, including in Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and Botswana."
Oh dear! My wife does this all the time, making little florets and things out of bank notes to give to people for their birthday. Never very big, and never a lot of money. Everyone in our family loves it. I had no idea that anyone might legitimately have a problem with doing this. :/
