We got a great view of the 2017 one from Weiser, Idaho - perfect weather, the town shut off the street lights, we were in a high school playing field along with NASA and MIT.
(I wore those movie-theatre red/blue 3D glasses over my eclipse glasses - I told people that it allowed me to see the back side of the moon.)
We tried for the 2024 one - we were along the now-infamous Guadalupe River near the also now well-known Kerrville/Center Point. It clouded over one minute before totality. Grrrr.
