That's a "mostly, though not entirely, ceremonial" position as Westminster parliamentary systems work, compare to King Charles III.
The _minor_ detail here is that Yitzhak Rabin was the Left wing faction commander in an affair that killed 16 Right wingers with artillery and small arms fire, including what I'm sure was M2s firing AP ammo.
OK, while some say he actually operated the cannon, I suppose it was "words" to open fire that ended up killing those very much not fellow Jews, but.... And of course the Left is still doing the cold civil war thing in the country, countering a particularly evil part of that was the big issue before October 7th.
So many see his 1995 assassination while PM by someone on the Right as rough justice. Not that you should ever let a culture of political assassination arise in a potentially working polity, see Japan before WWII as the recent object lesson about that.
