Something I still don't understand is why noone is trying to compete with Thalys on the Paris/Amsterdam route. Lots of companies are coming up with all sorts of attempts to operate through the tunnel, but there's service connecting three capitals without any competition, and none of the safety headaches of the tunnel. It's absolutely crying out for competition.
