I've been slowly getting more comfortable not typing in "proper english".
Idk, emoji just don't do anything for me. Plus they look different depending on platforms, and if your eyes suck, they are sometimes too detailed to figure out what it is, and good luck with accessibility. On desktop maybe you can rollover and get the name of the emoji, on mobile, you're just screwed.
I still feel like emoticons were all we needed. :-)
