I'd be interested to see how many mastodon instances were failing during the outage, I don't remember seeing many (if any) posts about it.
Mine doesn't use AWS but it's basically a single-user so there aren't a ton of benefits to it, but I assume the larger instances (and/or the outsourced/managed instances) might rely on it?
