There is no question that the Australian government's response to covid was incredibly histrionic and retarded. I won't go into detail, but I still can't quite believe what I had to do just to see a relative in palliative care before they passed. I was threatened with arrest twice.

That said, the narrative is still persisting that it was a total police state. It was not, most people just did exactly what they were told while the police made public examples of the unlucky few who thought all this shit was dumb and got caught walking on the beach (the horror).
