#WritersCoffeeClub Sep. 28: Could you work without the internet? What would change?

Write? Sure. Work? No. The Internet gave me Wikipedia to fall down rabbit holes and niche tech and science news, all of which provided inspiration that majorly influenced most of my modern projects. I love libraries. I love the ability to find things you didn't know you wanted in them. But for things I *do* want, having instant access has become part of my process and my process more or less hinges on a total lack of friction. My writing would be so much poorer if I had to rely on mainstream media. Not awful; just... I look at my fantasy-heavy early work and I'm still happy with it, but my horizons are so much wider now. *I've finished a novel!* If you'd asked me even a year ago if I thought I ever would, I would have called it unattainable, the way I kept losing my work. Dropbox saved me; that's online. All my software was downloaded. Without the Internet, I'd either be writing short fantasy in WordPad or have given up.
