The Israelis have always claimed, legally -- as if this justifies the practice-- that administrative detetention is "legal" because it is based on British Mandatory law. I actually once investigated this and found out that the British repealed the administrative detention laws when the Mandate expired so there is no real legal basis for Israeli practices.

Again. Not that this matters as basing your legal arguments on the legal framework of British imperial endeavors is hardly persuasive.
