for me it's not about race, or specific country, but can we determine if these men from war-torn countries are stable, are they getting adequate Psychiatric support. Given it's Belfast I'm going to say no to the latter. But nonetheless we have to ask ourselves if enough is done to head off a violent outburst.

possibly all that could be done was done, there were no warning signs and this is random tragedy. But if it isn't, if early signs were ignored, if nothing was done, if he (and other man involved?) were allowed out into public with no safeguards - then who is behind that.

Because such has happened before. It's always tragic for the victims. And "far right" gets bandied about, and accusations that the refugees are dangerous and shouldn't be there - and lets have the truth of it.

Sadly looking straight at it with a bright light will show up how many others (also most of them men) in Belfast are mentally unstable and out unsupervised and untreated. And if they admit that, then every other city everywhere, and every other Psych shortage will have to be confronted and addressed.

I also think we all have to be clear - if he was known to be violent and unstable, but had not yet committed a crime, where should he have been? Deported? To where. Unless we plan to build a very large (old sense of the word) asylum, where does this go.

Pity help the victim.
