Avatar Seven Havens has the same problem for me that Korra had: its temporal proximity to the other Avatar series.
I don't think I'd hate Korra as much if it wasn't directly dealing with Aang's legacy. Maybe I'm weird, but I don't like when a sequel disrupts the happily ever after of what came before it. None of the geopolitical problems Korra faced needed to be the direct result of what Aang did, and I don't think them being that added anything to the story while it definitely detracted from ATLA. I'd much prefer if Korra just never mentioned Aang or anyone from the original series.
Like, I dunno, if you're making an Avatar series I think the world is big enough that they should just make it ambiguous when each series takes place.
