One challenge that threw many was cracking a MySQL hash from the wire so I submitted a feature request (with the solution) to Hashcat to make it a bit easier. I wrote a solution in Perl but more than a few players found that a bit beyond them (at the time, it also required you to reverse engineer the protocol somewhat).
