I just received my account statement from the Swiss AVS (their version of Social Security, covering retirement and survivor benefits), detailing my contribution history from my time working at the #EPFL in 1997 through the mid-2000s. The statement confirms that I'm on track to qualify for a Swiss pension one day, thanks to the totalization treaty between Switzerland and the U.S. that coordinates benefits across both systems. It won't be much, but it's heartening to know the work I put in during my late teens and early twenties hasn't been lost.
