Juneteenth is coming and in the interest of over sharing, let me tell you a story of my failed attempt at humor.
I have a good friend who moved deep into the hollers of Kentucky. When folks would talk about the location I would say "It is so far back in the hills that the locals do not know the slaves were emancipated"
I guess nobody thought that was funny, and the Kentuckians thought I was accusing them of being racist.
