I haven't read Lem for about 25 years. I remember loving his books and their philosophical nature. There's both a 1972 Russian film and a 2002 American film based on the book. I recall the Russian film being fairly true to the book. The American version brings in strange religious undertones that were not in the book. My only advice would be to really view the ocean of Solaris as a character in the book of equal importance to the human characters
