Just come into our labs to check on the solvent cupboards. Some of our labs got to within 4 degrees of the boiling temperature of ether. That makes me nervous, and bottle after bottle hissed at me this morning.
We have work to do in thinking both about solar heat gain, but also how we modulate ventilation and work patterns to reduce the extent to which our labs heat up. Why blast air into the building if there's nobody in it - I counted four people including me. #chemistry #safety
