My Dad was always a bit deaf on one side thanks to WW II injuries. My mother was the kind of person who spent the better part of the day screaming at her kids and husband. Dad usually shut her out with books. I don't blame him. The vitriol she spewed daily was cruel, hurtful, and mean, and all her kids left home as soon as legally permitted. And yet, this woman has all my sympathy, and her husband NONE.
