I'm a fan of DC comics & of James Gunn's creative work & for some reason this appears to lead directly into me feeling pressured to get people to spend money to prove that the thing I like has value.
"Fandom" seems to be assumed to include doing all the things that generate wealth for the corporation which "owns" the "intellectual property" of which you are a fan.
