Fiat currency turns saving into an investing problem. When cash steadily loses purchasing power, keeping the money you earned isn't enough. You have to put it to work just to avoid falling behind.
That pressure sends savers into stocks, bonds, real estate, art, watches, and anything else expected to hold value better than cash. Those assets can preserve purchasing power, but they also bring volatility, illiquidity, complexity, and ongoing management. The monetary system makes taking those tradeoffs feel mandatory.
Bitcoin offers a different proposition: a way to save without chasing yield or relying on a counterparty. Other assets can still serve a purpose, but they no longer have to function as workarounds for weakening cash.
Savers who are comfortable treating investments as a permanent workaround may see no problem here, while those who question why preserving purchasing power should require more risk have a reason to consider bitcoin.
Separating saving from mandatory yield-seeking would let people choose other assets for their tradeoffs instead of using them simply to escape a currency that loses purchasing power.
